NOTES

This taxon is highly associated with bamboo culms.

A collection from French Guiana [FRENCH GUIANA: Paul Isnard, 3.1986, Samuels, G.J. & Searwar, P. 4142, dead bamboo culms (JDR; NY)] has most of the features of H. pilgerianum. However, its ascospores have broad ends and do not have a dehiscent perispore. It may represent a distinct taxon. t is not now appropriate to make a formal disposition owing to its depauperate condition.

The Hennings type at B was destroyed. The S duplicate is selected as the lectotype.
