Colonies on 2% Difco oatmeal agar at ca. 20 °C and under 12 h fluorescent light reaching the edge of 9 cm Petri dish in 3-4 wk, at first white, appressed, azonate, with entire margins, becoming uniformly grayish black due to carbonization beneath colony surface, with strongly radial and lateral folding on surface. Reverse grayish, highly convoluted. Anamorph not produced.
