SWEDEN: on decorticated wood, distributed in Fries, Sclerom. Suec. Exs. 75 (BPI [ex Strasbourg Herb.], BPI [ex Schweinitz Herb.], K[M] 68876 [Berkeley herb.]-syntypes of Sphaeria atropurpurea). USA: Massachusetts, Savoy State Forest, on decorticated wood, Aug.1963, P. Martin 1718 (IMI 362674-isotype of Hypoxylon ludovicianum); the specimen at NY bearing "Philip Martin 1718" was labeled as Rosellinia subiculata (Schwein.) Sacc. and contains only a dried culture which appears to be sterile. LOCALITY UNKNOWN: on decorticated wood (L 910,270-277 [Persoon Herb.]).
