TELEOMORPH

Nemania maritima Y.-M. Ju & J. D. Rogers, Nova Hedwigia 74: 102 (2002).

Stromata scattered, subglobose to globose, enclosing one to several perithecia, erumpent, with lower to middle part embedded in substrate, 0.5-0.6 mm diam; surface dark brown, smooth; carbonaceous immediately beneath surface and between perithecia; tissue beneath perithecial layer inconspicuous.

Ostioles obtusely conical, black.

Asci 80-100 µm total length x 6-9 µm broad, the spore-bearing part 70-85 µm long, short-stipitate, with apical ring bluing in Melzer's iodine reagent, cuneate, 1.5 µm high x 3 µm broad.

Ascospores light brown to brown, unicellular, ellipsoidal, with broadly rounded ends, 9-12 x 5-6(-6.5) µm, with straight germ slit much less than spore-length.
