NOTES

The stromatal anatomy and ascospore shape are similar to those of N. beaumontii which has smaller ascospores. Miller (1961) considered Hypoxylon ravenelii to be a synonym of Rosellinia subiculata (Schwein. : Fr.) Sacc., from which H. ravenelii differs in having broad-ended ascospores and in lacking a subiculum. There are no specimens of this fungus located at the Rehm herbarium of S. This fungus might eventually prove to be a Rosellinia, but further evaluation depends upon location and examination of additional and more complete material.
