NOTES

Nemania venezuelensis is characterized in having white stromatal tissue between the perithecia and large ascospores with the germ slit on the ventral side. The stromata have a broad connection to the substrate with no hint of multiple connections or narrowing at the base. Thus it is justifiable to accept this fungus as a Nemania species. Other Nemania taxa with large ascospores, such as N. gwyneddii, N. angusta, and N. quadrata, have the germ slit on the dorsal side of the ascospores.
