Stromata glomerate to pulvinate, with conspicuous perithecial mounds, 0.5-3 mm diam x 0.5-1.2 mm thick; surface sepia (63) or brown vinaceous (84); dark brown granules immediately beneath surface and between perithecia, with KOH-extractable pigments pure yellow (14) with greenish yellow (16) tone; the tissue below the perithecial layer inconspicuous to 0.5 mm thick.

Perithecia spherical, (0.2-) 0.3-0.5 mm diam.

Ostioles lower than the stromatal surface.

Asci 85-127 mm total length x 8-12 mm broad, the spore-bearing parts 68-100 mm long, the stipes 18-35 mm long, with apical ring highly reduced or lacking, not bluing in Melzer's iodine reagent.

Ascospores dark brown, unicellular, ellipsoid-inequilateral, strongly curved, with narrowly to broadly rounded ends, (11-) 12-16 x (5.5-) 6-7.5 mm, with straight to slightly sigmoid germ slit spore-length; perispore dehiscent in 10% KOH, with inconspicuous coil-like ornamentation; epispore smooth.
