Cultures much as described for K. clavus. Anamorph sometimes produced in culture.

Sporulating regions scattered over entire surface of colony, forming olivaceous gray pustules.

Conidiophores arranged in dense, upright palisades, dichotomously branched several times from base, yellowish or brownish, smooth.

Conidiogenous cells cylindrical, hyaline, smooth, 20-40 x 3-4.5 mm, bearing slightly raised poroid lateral and terminal conidial secession scars. Conidia produced holoblastically in sympodial sequence.

Conidia hyaline, smooth, ellipsoid to short cylindrical, 7.5-9.5 x 2.5-3.5 mm, with flattened base indicating former point of attachment to conidiogenous cell.
