NOTES

This fungus is commonly encountered in the tropics and subtropics and has frequently been identified as K. deusta or one of its synonyms. They differ in the former having more conspicuous ostiolar openings, larger ascospores with more or less obtuse ends, larger ascal apical rings, a longer ascospore germ slit, and longer conidia. Kretzschmaria milleri differs from the present fungus in having coarsely papillate ostiolar openings, larger ascal apical rings, and ascospores that average larger.
